ERC ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS

The ERC is an internationally recognized leader in raising Endometriosis awareness, globally and locally in all forms of online and print media.  We welcome and encourage all awareness campaign ideas and will support endeavors as requested on case by case consideration basis.  We commend all individuals who participate in our many programs intended to spread truthful awareness, and gratefully acknowledge your support.  Please read through the following before submitting or otherwise becoming involved in any awareness endeavors.

Please note: due to the highly confidential and proprietary nature of certain activities, you may be asked to complete a Confidentiality Form prior to participating in certain Committees.

For clarification purposes, please note that the ERC will NOT endorse or participate in the following campaigns:

“Write to Oprah” – we receive countless suggestions to host an ‘ask Oprah to do a show on Endo’ campaign.  Oprah has already done a show on Endometriosis previously, which portrayed the disease in a highly negative light.  Further, she and her producers historically do not respond to requests to do another show, and as such, we cannot afford the allocation of resources necessary to engage in an essentially fruitless campaign.  Thank you.

“Change the ribbon color” – we also routinely receive requests to form a ‘change the awareness ribbon color’ endeavor.  We have done so previously after many requests, and were met with an underwhelming response.  The internationally accepted and widely utilized ribbon is yellow, which we proudly share with the ‘Support the Troops’ campaign.  Note that MOST diseases, disorders and concerns share ribbon colors with other causes.

“Host a national EndoWalk” – the ERC has already been involved, by invitation of the organizers, in prior national Awareness Walk efforts.  We do not have the resources to host such an endeavor, particularly one which is already organized and hosted by another independent, grassroots foundation.  We DO, and will CONTINUE TO, however, engage in local awareness walks and will entertain any suggestion brought to us by committed individuals willing to undertake the work necessary to organization such an event.

“Write to Dr. Oz” – Dr. Oz has already done more than one show on Endometriosis.

ERC cannot and will not engage in any campaigns that raise money for other organizations.  As a 501(c)3 charitable foundation that uniquely relies on donations – we NEVER charge for membership or access to our programs and are the only free Endometriosis organization in the world – we cannot afford to engage in efforts that do not at least in part raise monies to support our own mission and does not directly benefit our member ranks.  Thank you for your understanding.

Available opportunities for involvement include:

ERC Legislative Awareness Committee
Implemented in 1999
To get involved or for more information, contact Awareness Coordinator Tausha Leavell at ERC_tausha_leavell@yahoo.com

The ERC's Legislative Awareness Committee raises awareness among policymakers and government officials, helps to implement Resolutions and Bills, and lobbies for support concerning Endometriosis awareness and funding for research.  Given the nature of governmental affairs, it is not unusual for a specific project to take several months to accomplish.  As a result, new campaigns will be undertaken at various intervals throughout the calendar year.  Your participation in the ERC Legislative Awareness Committee in no way obligates you to any specific projects; you are free to participate in any of the various campaigns as your schedule and interests permit.  The ERC was responsible for the passage of several awareness Resolutions, including the United States' first National Resolution, H.Con.Res. 291.  To read about our successes in this area, visit our Legislation page.
