LEGISLATION The ERC is a pioneer and continued leader in the efforts to increase recognition of this disease specifically among local, state and federal policymakers. Through our work, the 107th Congress of the United States unanimously passed the country's first-ever National Endometriosis Awareness Resolution, H. Con. Res. 291. This Resolution was the first and only of its kind recognizing the disease and formally declaring March as Endometriosis Awareness Month, as well as “strongly supporting the Endometriosis Research Center's efforts to raise public awareness of Endometriosis throughout the medical and lay communities, and recognizing the need for better support of patients with Endometriosis, the need for physicians to better understand the disease, the need for more effective treatments, and ultimately, the need for a cure." To date, Utah, New York, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, California, Pennsylvania and Wyoming have all passed Resolutions officially joining the ERC in recognizing the Month of March as "Endometriosis Awareness Month." Many states are repeat legislative supporters! We are extremely grateful to these elected policymakers who champion our efforts and facilitate the passage of several Resolutions and Legislative actions formally acknowledging the ERC’s efforts, and more importantly, the need for Endometriosis Awareness, each year.
